How To Become An Umpire For The 2023 Season

All umpires in Ontario are certified by Baseball Ontario, with local associations such as the Mississauga Southwest Baseball Association guiding umpires through this process.

The certification process will take place during February, March, and April of 2023 for the 2023 season. While the process has evolved over the past few years as a result of pandemic restrictions, certification for the 2023 season will likely include online learning that umpires will complete at home on their own time, as well as an on-field clinic for all MSBA umpires.

There is no minimum age requirement to become an umpire. Umpire will require ability to travel to nearby diamonds, as well as their own email address to remain in contact with the Umpire-In-Chief. (Parents can be copied on communications.)

If you are interested in receiving information about umpire certification in the spring of 2023, please click on the link below and fill in your information. Submitting your information does not commit you to the process, it simply insures you will be provided the information as it becomes available in the spring.
