Organization - History
The Mississauga Southwest Baseball Association
was formed in 2001 as the result of a merger between the
Clarkson-Lorne Park Baseball Association (CLPBA) and the Erin
Mills Baseball Association (EMBA). Both CLPBA and EMBA had long
and successful histories in the Mississauga minor sports
community and were highly respected throughout Ontario, having
won numerous provincial and city championships over the years.
In response to the changing needs of minor baseball in
Mississauga, the two community groups opted to pool their
physical and human resources to become more efficient and
effective in serving their respective memberships. Blending the
two cultures, systems, processes, and philosophies required long
hours of work and lots of adjustments, but it resulted in a
highly successful transition. We are proud of this
accomplishment as well as the continuing achievements of our
T-ball, rookie ball, baseball, and softball programs which serve
our players ranging in age from 5 to 21 (ages 8 to 22 for
softball).
A Board of Directors heads our association, and our Clubhouse in
Tom Chater Park is headquarters for the work that takes place
year-round. The Board meets the 1st Tuesday of every
month in addition we have an annual general meeting each fall,
and all MSBA members are encouraged to attend. Several of our Board members are also
coaches, a group that is a vital component of our organization,
and upon whose commitment and dedication all the teams rely.
With our unique facility, our on-field accomplishments, and our
proactive and innovative total team approach (players, coaches,
umpires, parents, and Directors), MSBA continues to be an
important and successful community sports organization with an
exciting and positive future.
We encourage other members to join our Board or to volunteer in
another capacity. There is much to do and comparatively few
people to do it all; so if you would like to be a more active
member, please let us know.
